Why Student Led Innovation In Educational Technology?

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

There is an untapped resource on college campuses which, if embraced, would enable us to make great strides in educational equity and effectiveness. If students who drop-out of college can revolutionize industries and create companies like Microsoft and FaceBook, then why can't current college students be innovators in education? I will be presenting four fundamental reasons why students are the optimal innovators for educational technology: Students are diverse, recently felt academic struggles, have a fresh perspective, and have better access to conduct user centered design. My colleagues at UC San Diego will then enter a panel discussion on the benefits of student-led innovation in educational technology and how universities and departments can help foster and support these students.
