In spring, when Fresno State learned that Fall 2020 would involve virtual or hybrid delivery of most courses, the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) developed two virtual courses with both synchronous and asynchronous components and identified faculty across campus to facilitate these courses. Nearly 700 faculty completed a three-week course during summer 2020: either Foundations of Virtual Instruction (FVI) or Virtual Summer Institute. A modified version of the FVI course was also provided to teaching assistants. This presentation, including CFE and faculty facilitators and participants, will discuss the design and delivery of the Foundations in Virtual Instruction course, as well as its benefits and future improvements.
